International Volunteer Day...the energy of change in our Arab world
This day comes in appreciation of the efforts of volunteers in empowering communities and promoting development. Thanking everyone who chooses to be part of the solution and makes their mark in serving people and the environment.
Among these efforts comes the “Arab Green Volunteering Club” affiliated with the Arab Center for Sustaining Civil Action, as an Arab platform that brings together Arab volunteers and works to spread the culture of volunteering and link it to sustainable development and climate action.
The club seeks to build the capabilities of young people, qualify them for volunteer work, and encourage them to create initiatives that have an actual impact. It also works to establish volunteer units within universities, student unions, and civil society organizations. It enhances cooperation between civil society organizations and official bodies, and supports building a sustainable volunteer system within institutions.
During this year, 6 green volunteer units were established in the governorates of:
Greater Cairo - Alexandria - Assiut.
Within the project to empower and integrate people with disabilities
Each unit included 30 volunteers, 60% of whom were female and 30% of whom were people with various disabilities (visual - hearing - motor - mental). These units also implemented 9 inclusive community initiatives, of which 3 won the first three places.
